We are never going to arrest our way out of the use of illegal drugs.
As Independent candidate in the election for Police Fire and Crime Commissioner I will work with the Chief Constable to introduce new initiatives to North Yorkshire. Yes safe places for users and Police Officers trained to sensitively deal with users.
We need a grown up debate for changes to the law on the Misuse of Drugs Act but in the meantime, the law of the land must be upheld – with Police Officers given discretion and using common sense.
