As you will know the PFCC has no powers to change laws. However, if elected as PFCC I would be willing to enter into conversation with your organisations and others about this issue. I appreciate the issues caused by the current status of cannabis and the effect it’s criminality has. In particular how disproportionately young black and working class people are exploited in the drugs trade. I would be very keen to address this. I also recognise the arguments about the decriminalisation of the growing of cannabis for personal use.
My focus will be on violence against women, domestic violence and being proactive about gange related violence and in the latter a proactive approach.
As someone who works for a homeless charity I work with a number of people who are drug addicts and recognise that cannabis is a different beast to other illegal substances. Although I confess I am wary about wholescale legalisation of cannabis I am willing to engage with you and others to review this position and am open to persuasion.
Once again thank you for your time getting in contact with me
Kind regards
Chris V
