Is personalised medical cannabis the answer?
A recent study by NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) shows that “a number of commonly used drug treatments for chronic pain, such as opioids, and paracetamol, amongst others; have little or no evidence that they work, and shouldn’t be prescribed as they can cause adverse effects such as possible addiction.”
While the NHS and NICE suggest patients “seek group exercise programmes, some types of psychological therapy, or acupuncture”, we believe there is another answer.
The fact is, Canada, Australia, Jamaica, South Africa, much of the Commonwealth, and the majority of the USA have wide access to medical cannabis and have found it to be highly effective for many conditions such as;
* Arthritis
* Fibromyalgia
* Endometriosis
* Migraines
* Crohn’s Disease
* Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
* Rheumatoid arthritis
The UK government currently has an obligation to its citizens to study and better understand the extraordinary promise shown in using cannabis to not only treat chronic pain, but cancer relief, seizure treatment, and more. By reducing the use of prescribed opioids doctors are reducing potentially dangerous side effects of Big Pharma drugs such as addiction, and even death.
If a natural substance shows promise in treating certain types of pain, for which an opioid would have previously been prescribed, why shouldn’t it be an option for everyone to explore?
